BMO Economist Michael Gregory will present “Economic Outlook: From Here to Price Stability.” Inflation looks like it has already peaked, and Fed policy rates look like they could do the same soon. However, how long Fed rates stay elevated will depend on how readily inflation recedes. And, food price hikes are proving to be quite stubborn, continuing to reel from supply chain disruptions, labor shortages and climate change. Currently, most key economic indicators are pointing to recession which will prod further disinflation, apart from those tied to the still-tight labor market. How long before it too slackens, which is required to ultimately restore price stability?
